“Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock………”. This is not a short video app with a similar name but rather the clicking sound of the clock. It keeps on clicking despite whether we are using it productively or just letting it pass. So Time Management become a hot topic for professionals and trainers as well.
There is a famous dialogue in “B R Chopra’s Mahabharat” ‘मैं समय हूँ।’ ‘न दुख मेरे प्रवाह में बाधक हो सकता है और न ही सुख। (I am time. Neither sorrow nor happiness can hinder my flow).
Time is like that only. This is an event that keeps moving irrespective of any other event in the whole universe. Nothing could stop the time.
What is Time Management?
You can find every other person cribbing about not having enough time to do his job. So, a lot has been talked about, discussed, and written about how to do “Time Management”. This is a topic discussed and taught very extensively, people are still struggling to manage it. People struggling to make the most of it.
What do we understand by Time Management? In my opinion, instead of managing the time, we must learn to manage our work within the time available to us. We will always have an overwhelming number of tasks in our hands, and we must manage them by prioritizing them based on their importance and urgency.
Need of Time Management Skills
Let us first understand why we need to manage our work properly. Have a look at below reasons:
- Better quality of work
- Getting the right work done at the right time
- Less procrastination
- Less stress
- Better productivity
- More time for strategic thinking and creative work
- Better work-life balance
- Time for self-development
Lots of benefits, hope we all understand that. But the question is, how to achieve it? There are a few tips listed below that will help you manage your work efficiently and on time.
Time management tips

- Eliminate all wastage. Put a limit on the use of social media and entertainment.
- Prioritize your work based on the urgency and importance of the task.
- Do the scheduling. Use a digital calendar.
- Do not do the tasks which your team members can do. Delegate.
- Eliminate the tasks that are not aligned with your goals.

I am leaving you with the famous eisenhower-matrix which is a very simple decision matrix easy to understand and easy to implement. You might have seen this matrix in one of your time management sessions earlier as well.

Read the matrix in conjunction with the below priority level:
- Important & urgent
- Important but not urgent
- Less important but urgent
- Neither important nor urgent
